What is considered a volunteer group?
A volunteer group consists of a group of 10 or more volunteers coming from a single organization. Examples include community organizations, all Military branches, non-profits, scouts, businesses, high school and college sports teams, clubs, and Greek Life.
What is the age requirement?
Volunteers must be 16 years old or older, and accompanied by an adult if under the age of 18. We ask for 1 chaperone/group leader for every 10 volunteers, if under the age of 18.
How do I sign up my group?
Please email email@example.com to register your group. Please provide the following information within your email:
- Location volunteering for
- Group Leader’s first and last name
- Group Leader’s contact information (phone number & email address)
- Group you are affiliated with
- How many volunteers you expect to bring
- Volunteer shift(s) you are interested in working
You will then be contacted by a ROC Race Volunteer Coordinator within 48 hours and will be given further instructions.
Are donations given to volunteer groups?
Yes. As a thank you for your group’s time and hard work, donations will be given to organizations that provide a minimum of 20 volunteers. The donation amount is based on the number of volunteers that attend the shift you registered for and that stay for the entire shift. Donations can be made to the organization, Challenged Athletes Foundation, or charity/non-profit of your choice. Email us at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
A couple of my friends and me would like to volunteer together. Should we register as a group?
If you have a group of 10 or more, please email email@example.com. If you have fewer than 10, please sign up as individuals and select the same shift days/times.
What time will I need to check in to volunteer?
Volunteers will check in at the volunteer tent on site about 1-2 hours before the first race is scheduled to start. Some events, this could be as early as 6am. A ROC Race Volunteer Coordinator will contact you 2-4 weeks prior to the event to inform you of your shift time.
How long will I be volunteering?
Packet Pickup shifts are typically 4-6 hours long. Event day shifts are typically 6-8 hours long.
Do volunteers receive a shirt?
All volunteers will receive a ROC Race Volunteer shirt upon check in. The volunteer shirt must be worn for the entire duration of your shift.
Do volunteers receive snacks, lunch, and water on event day?
Yes. All volunteers will be provided with a lunch on event day and plenty of water.
How do I confirm I am registered to volunteer?
Once you sign up online at www.rocrace.com.au/volunteers, you will receive a confirmation email from a ROC Race Volunteer Coordinator providing you more information regarding the volunteer shift you signed up for. If you have any questions, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
What should I bring?
All volunteers are will receive a limited edition ROC Race t-shirt! As for the rest of your outfit, please dress comfortably with closed toed shoes. You may be out on the obstacles which get a little ridiculous, so wear something you wouldn’t mind getting dirty or slightly wet. Please also wear sunscreen. We will have some at the volunteer tent if you forget. Please leave all valuable objects at home as ROC Race is not responsible for watching your personal belongings during your shift.
